The Deep Research Module is an AI-powered legal and compliance research engine designed to help in-house legal and compliance teams quickly answer nuanced legal and regulatory questions. It enables users to pose complex, fact-pattern and jurisdiction-specific questions and receive structured, referenced responses grounded in authoritative sources.
The module integrates with the Responsiv platform, so you can take that analysis and draft a document or policy or store it in your obligation tracker.
Deep Research Process
After you ask a question
- Responsiv will extract the jurisdiction(s)
- Identify sources that align to the identified jurisdictions (statutes, regulations, guidance, secondary analysis, other content)
- Answer the user question
- Generate references that backs up the answer from the authoritative sources
- Specify follow-up questions which may be helpful in getting to a comprehensive analysis
Best Practices
- Focus on a single topic in each question
- Specify your jurisdiction. Responsiv will perform better when focused on a couple of jurisdictions.
- Make sure that your organizational profile is configured. If it’s not, then provide information on who you are and the portion of the business you want context on
- Rather than asking general questions like “Are non-competes enforceable?" ask a specific question like “Are four year, broad non-competes associated with an acquisition enforceable in New York in connection with an acquisition?”
Advanced Options

External Research: Searches the Responsiv repository of statutes, regulations, guidance, and secondary analysis
Internal File Library: Searches all the content in your Organization’s File Library. If you have separate sources configured, you can filter by Source Type (to search policies vs internal memos as an example)
Specify Source: Allows you to upload an attachment to provide context to your research topic
